FreeNX, the fast remote desktop software, does not get frequent updates. In fact it skipped Maverick, Natty and Oneiric entirely. So when it becomes available in a new release of Ubuntu, it needs to be noticed and appreciated.
And there is a new version in Precise, freenx-server is available in the FreeNX Stable PPA for 12.04. It is the same version (0.7.3) that was available in Lucid so don't expect any major improvement.
:ext:http://freenx.berlios.de/:FreeNX: can be a bit tricky to configure, but it's a remarkable challenger to VNC because of its performance that make it feel like you're using a local desktop environment even when when you don't have a broadband network connection.
